A minor earthquake rocked the City of Angels on Friday night, according to the US Geological Survey.
The agency reported a magnitude of 4.3 on the Mercalli Modified Intensity Scale with an epicenter in Carson, California, which is Los Angeles County.
The 15-second shake lost power at a Marathon Petroleum refinery and resulted in dramatic flaring, scaring residents off, the Los Angeles Times reported.
There are about five earthquakes per year that rank between 4.0 and 5.0 on the Modified Mercalli Intensity Scale, according to the newspaper.
No injuries or damage were immediately reported, the Associated Press reported.
