East Coast T-Mobile Breakdown Prevents Voice Calls

The US mobile phone operator T-Mobile suffered a breakdown Friday night, preventing customers from the east coast to make voice calls. Calls immediately disconnected after dialing a number, said users.

T-Mobile did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but as of 3:20 pm. PT, about 14,500 service alerts have been reported, according to Down Detector. Most of these reports came from Philadelphia; New York City; Washington DC; Newark, New Jersey; Chicago; Houston; Providence, Rhode Island; and Baltimore.

West Coast customers do not appear to be affected by the outage.

At around 14:17 PT, Metro PCS – owned by T-Mobile – was also reported as having problems by Down Detector. US Cellular joined it at 2:58 pm and AT & T at 3:28 pm, with nearly 700 reports. Down Detector also noticed problems with Verizon and Sprint.

Verizon's customers were only affected when they tried to call customers from other distressed networks, a spokesperson said in an email. Verizon added that he had only very minimal Breakdowns that have been linked to Hurricane Dorian, and these were restricted to an area of ​​Outer Banks, North Carolina.

AT & T confirmed that there was no breakdown, but was aware that another supplier was down.

At approximately 3:45 pm PT and T-Mobile customers reported that their services were being restored.
