Ecobee could be the next to launch a security camera for the smart home

Most smart home manufacturers are now using more than one type of device for the smart home, and recently disclosed images suggest that Ecobee plans to add a security camera to its existing product lineup .

The images leaked were posted on Zatz Not Funny, but in the absence of Ecobee's official comment, we took them with the usual grain or both, or salt, for the time being.

That said, it would be logical for Ecobee to want to add a camera next to the smart thermostat for which it is best known and the intelligent light switch that it has recently added to its product line.

As far as prices, or a launch date, or one of the device specifications, there is no word on that yet. According to existing Ecobee products, it seems likely that the integration of Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant would be included.

Follow the competition

What is certain is that smart home space continues to take more and more control of the competition and that Ecobee will feel obliged to keep up with its competitors.

Google has deployed a lot of effort with its Google Home and Nest products, and is expected to add new devices in the near future, while Amazon recently purchased the Eero mesh network system.

Many of Ecobee's competitors in the field of smart thermostats, including Nest and Hive, also have security cameras, which allows them to stay at least the same level as their main competitors – if a camera launch is planned.

We will have to wait to see if a security camera manufactured by Ecobee seems to be watching your house, but for the moment, the company remains discreet.
