The hour of news from Ecuador, its provinces and the world

That a person could manufacture in minutes what took him hours and that instead of making a problem, she elaborates 10. That's what Fabricio Reyes calls "doing the job". magic". He is co-founder of Máquinas Ec and, together with Carlos Canacuán and Diego Aguinsaca, he has built a company that has so far transformed 46 technology entrepreneurs.

His office is like a laboratory of ideas. Metals and circuits predominate in the style of a futuristic workshop. On the second floor of the warehouse, located in La Floresta, one of the team members built a 3D printer in which it has already been a month. Another guy is working on another printer that will print food, chocolate and a long list of materials. There are computers and tools. There, they employ 15 people and receive trainees to learn.

Their proposal is to technise processes through imported machines that they modify to be more efficient. In infrastructure, they account for 20% and 60% for engineering.

When a person arrives at the place, she discusses with her and recommends her the prototype that best suits the processes that she performs. Then come trainings and workshops for the management of what will become your personal factory. The goal is that the contractor can operate the machine alone.

There are six models between 3D printers and laser machines.
These are rectangular boxes one meter high. They call them toys. These tools have helped develop custom racks for mobile phones to design chairs with backs that give the feeling of a hug.

The Origin

The method of generating ideas, as called Reyes, 25, aims to support entrepreneurs so that They can invest in something that helps them grow. They had realized that there are people who have money saved but who do not know what to look after. Since March 2015, they began with 3D printers: artifacts that are now like small mechanical arms that create complete objects.

It all started with an idea that changed history in Ecuador and around the world. It was in 2016 and four students from the Polytechnic School of the Army began to appear in the headlines. His project aimed to make blind people more mobile.

They built a device called HandEyes that worked with sensors. He emitted sounds and vibrations when he was with objects on the way. It was the size of a smartphone with several buttons. Now in its recent version, it stands in the middle of the hand and has only one button. It has reached more than 100 people.

Social Project

With the recognition of the international competition, a new stage has begun for Ecuadorians. New challenges especially when they noticed that HandEyes would not be funded alone. The idea was that the device was free for the blind, because of that, the guys who already had a 3D printer decided to make it grow even more.

Since then, Máquinas Ec has helped to continue to fund social project research and innovation. In the office of the boys' company, graduated from the university barely last year, there is a "H & # 39; (History Channel chain logo) more than a meter tall that reminds them of the contest that marked a before and after for them. Fabricio Reyes admits that it filled him with pride and made him understand that he could motivate other people.

His idea was to tell the world that in Ecuador, you can venture into technology. Now he shows it through his machines. He speaks firmly and more when he says that the meaning of change in the productive matrix has been misunderstood in the country. It is not a question of producing everything here but of continuing to innovate from technology already created in other countries with more years of experience.

He considers that in an enterprise it is important to plan things according to the question: what can we do? to keep us alive?

Thus, boys' lives at the present time are hectic. Meetings and trips are part of your daily life. Carlos Canacuán arrives at the office to work on different projects and takes a moment to show the latest HandEyes model. He shows it in front of the camera. It is surrounded by the products of companies that have contributed to the technification. On one of the shelves rests a 3D printed Iron Man helmet that Fabricio Reyes reminds him of his favorite movie.

This year, they want to reach 150 entrepreneurs and keep working until maybe one day the projection of the future that imagines Reyes is accomplished: a time when there are factories of thought, "you think about it and you build it alone. " (PCV)
