Retrospective Exhibition

Guayaquil.- As part of the activities planned as part of the 5th edition of the July Salon (19459008), the Municipal Museum of Guayaquil reviews the first years of the competition in the historical context and in the present moments is an open retrospective sample of the winners of the first decade of July Hall (1959 – 1969).

On this occasion as on other occasions we have tried to be as educational as possible because the Municipal Museum of Guayaquil is the "Museum of the People, not only scholars"; that is why, maps were made that abound in information to best illustrate the characteristics of each work, the biographical profile of its author and the historical moment when each of the works was made .

In keeping with our mission, which is to increase the cultural level of our community, (not only experts), this type of museography has been realized. Moreover, to achieve this, even the pieces that were in the restoration area of the museum's heritage reserve were removed because the sample had to be completed.

This retrospective will be open for the brief period. 7 days because museographic conditions will not keep it longer and this would require moving lights and air conditioning.

Until July 14, we invite the general public to attend and enjoy a tour of the early days of this important painting competition where stand out his award-winning works, born of the pictorial genius of masters such as Théo Constante, Enrique Tábara, Gilberto Almeida, Segundo Espinel, Bolívar Mena Franco, among others.

It is a decade when the aesthetics of PRECOLOMBINISM prevails between abstraction and experimentation.
