Rome.- The Venice Film Festival will show a digital copy of the silent work "From the Golem, Wie er in die Welt kam" (The Golem: How did it come into the world, 1920) , Paul Wegener the eve of its opening, August 28, its organizers informed him today
The film will be screened for the first time after being restored in a copy 4K digital, obtained from an original negative.
The event will feature the original live music played by an orchestra and the voice of the Albanian soprano Hersjana Matmuja
The Golem, one of the most famous myths of Jewish mysticism and Inspiring for artists from many eras, it tells the fable of a clay creature to which a rabbi, planning the expulsion of his people from Prague in the 16th century, manages to give life to protect them.
Wegener (East Prussia, 1874 – Berlin, 1948) he addressed the story on two other occasions, in 1914 and in 1917, but only his version will, in which he played the Golem, succeeded to triumph, being one of the most beloved and famous films of the Weimar Republic.
