Complainants of clergy abuses are calling on the Marist congregation in Santiago to stop hiding the priests being investigated.
A group of victims of abuses committed by the Catholic Church demonstrated Thursday morning with their families in front of the headquarters of the congregation of the Marist Brothers in Santiago de Chile to demand that he stop giving refuge to the priests who have processes of investigation against them.
"We are here to prevent the congregation from sheltering and harboring bad offenders already proven by canon justice," said Isaac Givovich, an alert launcher.
The man also added that he pronounced himself "to denounce that in this house of the Marists live the investigated and convicted religious: Armando Alegria, Jesus Castañeda, German Chávez, Luis Cornejo, Adolfo Fuentes, Luis Izquierdo and Carlos Lira."
In addition, Givovich asked the religious entity responsible for rendering a judgment "to apply the maximum penalty and to stop protecting and covering these criminals".
