The Ecuadorian volcano Reventador, located about 90 kilometers from Quito, today published several columns of steam, gas and ash to the west and a maximum height of 1,000 meters above the crater, announced today the # 39; Institute of Geophysics (IG) of the National Polytechnic School.

In his Facebook account, the IG stressed that the volcano maintained a high eruptive activity.

He added that during the night, a glow was observed at the crater and noted that during the last hours, there was no rain in the area.

In November 2002, an eruption of the Reventador raised a large cloud of ashes that, under the influence of the winds, went to Quito and covered several parts of the capital.

The volcano is located in a spur of the eastern branch of the Andean mountain range that has been lost at the beginning of the Amazon basin.

At 3,560 meters above sea level, this volcano began its current eruptive process in 2002 and is characterized by explosions, gas and ash emissions, lava flows and lahars. EFE (I)
