The Government of Ecuador expects that the first biometric pbadports, with the use of digital technology, for next October, reported Monday the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Society (Mintel).

The deputy minister badured that the biometric pbadport, in addition to allowing greater flexibility in verifying citizens' information, is a requisite for the exemption of the Shengen visa requested by Ecuador to the 39; Europe.

On April 3, the Ecuadorian Ministry of Foreign Affairs signed a cooperation agreement with the civil registry to improve the services provided by the consulates abroad, especially with regard to the implementation of the biometric pbadport.
At this meeting, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recalled that the initiative to implement the biometric pbadport will facilitate the travel of Ecuadorians abroad and will require them to travel to Europe.
"This will be a big step forward in terms of facilitation for Ecuadorians to travel abroad, paying adequate attention to their needs and even contributing to the exemption from the visa requirement. Shengen in Europe, "said Valencia.
