The president of Ecuador Lenin Moreno, informed today that his government is speaking "permanently" with the British authorities to resolve the situation of founder of the WikiLeaks leakage platform, the Australian Julian Assange, and asked him for the guarantee that his life "will not be in danger."

Assange, who obtained Ecuadorian citizenship in 2017, is required by the US justice and remains a refugee at the Embbady of Ecuador in London since 2012.

At the time of an informative meeting in Madrid, Moreno said that it is an issue that is also discussed with Assange's legal advisers.

According to Moreno, "there are even human rights abuses for one person to remain too long in isolation."

With reference to Assange, he said, however, that he "has never" agreed with private couriers intervene to obtain and disseminate information, however valuable they may be, about certain "undesirable" acts of governments.

He recalls that the situation of Assange is a "problem" inherited from the previous Ecuadorian government, which considered that danger "his life."

"In Ecuador there is no death penalty, and we know that this possibility existed," he said. "That's why we, the only thing we want, is the guarantee that his life will not be in danger" he stressed

. He replied: "We have spoken, we are constantly talking to the British government, with the ambbadador, who is his representative in Ecuador ."

"With the only person who I have ever spoken with Mr. Assange" he added.

He acknowledged that this is a situation that can not last forever, but the "exit" for this case must be accomplished by "talking". "Better mechanism of approach and understanding". EFE
