The verse says, "The fox knows many things, but the hedgehog knows a great thing," referring to different ways of thinking.
Hedgehogs are those who prefer dogmas, having a centralized view of life, preferring to generalize regardless of the accidental, it is not part of their world. On the other hand, foxes have a particular vision, taking into account each case independently.
In a general way, the hedgehog can be considered a fanatic and the fox, skeptical.
These two ways of perceiving the world has been confronted through history.
Hedgehogs have committed atrocities, justifying them with dogmas, such as nationalism, communism or religion, since they are capable of sacrificing much to achieve what they regard as a better future.
Because of the different ways of seeing the world, different interpretations of what is true, which are often contradictory. For example, if we badyze certain postulates of the French Revolution, we will find that freedom, in practice, is not unlimited. It is limited by the state and sometimes by ourselves to achieve personal goals.
Just like freedom, equality is also a difficult concept because human beings are different. Some are healthier, smarter, more capable and more capable than others. We only have equal rights.
It's a mistake that an economic model badumes that every individual in the community is looking for the same thing. This idea puts an end to any attempt at initiative and productivity, generating an unhappy society.
Perhaps the reality is simpler: the proletariat is not called to change the world, and it is not interested in doing so. But every individual is a bourgeois who wants to exercise his right to prosper in the way that seems most convenient in changing circumstances.
To achieve this, we need a simple legal framework that allows us to live together in society. This requires a small state. The opposite tends to regulate people's lives.
