Pope Francis has expelled from the priesthood the Chilean religious Fernando Karadima for badual abuse, the biggest condemnation of the Catholic Church, the Vatican announced on Friday.
"Pope Francis has resigned from the clerical state Fernando Karadima Fariña of the Archdiocese of Santiago de Chile.The Holy Father made this exceptional decision in conscience and for the good of the Church", said the Vatican in a statement.
Karadima, a coach of several bishops, was suspended from office for life by the Vatican in 2011 after being found guilty of badual abuse of minors.
