Mankind has had prosperous and peaceful times in which it was possible to trade, invent and not die prematurely. They were simpler times, in which the threats were known, the boundary between good and evil was clear, and the community, although it also prevented your growth, did not let you down: the Cold War, Europe after Napoleon, the East Medieval media, clbadical China or Latin America, the period before entry, stumbled and forced by the world, to modernity.
The peace of the day depended on many factors that today, in times of idolatrous transparency and participation, are outrageously perverse. If everything seemed more orderly and predictable, it was not because the world had been less savage, but because the powerful were ruling the chaos behind closed doors and in secret.
Prosperity rested to a large extent on the misery and exploitation of other peoples, almost all of whom were unaware of suffering. Secrecy and manipulation did not matter; the only work of the strong sovereign was to bring about a credible illusion of peace and prosperity for his ruled. And point.
There has not been a greater era of well-being in the history of humanity than what we are experiencing now, but, for some reason, many do not perceive it not that way. We feel helpless in the face of a selfish and competitive world that has no place for the vanquished. The complexity of contemporary reality escapes our ability to calculate and we can not see the sea in front of us as opportunities that speak to us, but scarcely a frightening chaos.
We are not all ambitious, enterprising, risk-loving and immune to the wounds of failure. It is legitimate and dignified, faced with the frightening current complexity, to aspire to a simple and trouble-free life. The planet is witnessing a resurgence of powerful leaders. Many citizens, even if it means that they are deemed to lack empathy, global identity and democratic awareness, simply want to live in peace. For this reason, citizens in more and more countries are choosing to live under strong leaders who they believe are capable of handling chaos alone and in silence.
