& # 39; Ecos del Dorado & # 39; is the new pictorial production of Enriquestuardo Álvarez.

A city that has almost bled gold in the midst of the exotic New World is the legend that has made hundreds of anxious Europeans mad with the promise of wealth.

Now, the legend of El Dorado is the starting point of the search for the Latin American identity that Enriquestuardo Álvarez expresses in his new exhibition. This is "Echoes of the Golden", a sample that is housed in the Sala Palacios Gallery, Nayón.

"There are big gaps, our identity is not complete … It would also be the search for El Dorado" says the artist of Salcedo, who took as reference several Pre-Columbian objects exhibited in the Central Bank Museum and the Alabado Museum. "I was very disturbed by these pre-Columbian images," he adds, "because I saw them with a great deal of mystery."

Álvarez believes that the memory of what these icons represented for our ancestors has been lost, although there is a genetic memory preserved in the collective unconscious. To unravel these objects, he "badumed the position of the conquerors in search of treasure".

Rebuilding the Past
From this exploration comes the idea of ​​presenting pre-Columbian pieces painted in close-up, but broken, incomplete and corrupted by the pbadage of time, as the memory of Latino identity -américaine.

"They can be elements of identity but in the contemporaneity they have been reduced to ornaments," he says. For the painter, these objects are considered a status symbol, but few people feel part of what they represent. The aim of this exhibition is to find this genetic memory of the spectator's unconscious and to make them reflect on these objectives as symbols of its history. The Origin
° "Ecos del Dorado" was born in extension of the pictorial exhibition El Dorado, inaugurated in Chicago in 2016, although Alvarez explains that he has been working with the themes and elements of the exhibition since 2010.
