The Spanish dancer and choreographer is one of the references of contemporary dance. A review of his career.

Daniel Abreu arrived in Quito, for the first time, with three Max awards to his credit, having been the big winner of the 21st edition of the Spanish awards. The best dance show, with "La désbadz", and male performer of dance and choreography, for "La delicadeza", are the categories with which the Canarian dancer and choreographer, one of the referents of contemporary dance, stands

. At the end of June, the Théâtre des Variétés was his home. There, he presents his work "Tête", a frame where the body oscillates between violence and spirituality, between construction and destruction, that is to say, between the human

En Pbading through Ecuador, where he endured the, Abreu, who is 15 years old at the head of his business, spoke with Diario La Hora.

How much head did you put on & # 39; Cabezas & # 39;
There was so much heart at this point in my life that I had to put a lot of head. I will not usually go into the studio with personal experience, but this time there was one that was devastating me. I had to put everything in order.

How to build and destroy the body?
Destruction is an integral part of creation. Destruction is always fundamental in any process. For me, it is essential to break the papers to build anything. In this work, in particular, it is very fragmented; it is talked about the shock when receiving a new one; Then I was very interested in understanding the behavior of the many readings that may be on this news. As you can see, there was a lot to destroy to build.

What is the best criticism you have made?
"I did not understand it, but I liked it". (laughs)

Beyond understanding, there must be empathy …
Indeed, that is what worries me. Of course, this is not always the case. As I said, there are many looks and someone can go with the idea of wanting to understand the story from a logical beginning. Every way of looking is respectable.

What do you prefer?
I like to sit and relax. I try to make sure that the work takes me: I always see where it leads me.

You have a training in ballet and you have opted for the contemporary, how to combine the clbadical with the contemporary? Do they complete or move away?
In my case, clbadical dance helped me to train my body, to codify it, to be very technical. The other allowed me to take my own path. They have their meetings, the body communicates on both sides. The body is moved by the feelings that sweep you.

You went through groups until you made a name for yourself. How much do you owe to these collective processes?
The companies that I worked with gave a way to see, they gave me a way to do it. The school is like the father and mother of the artistic part, but later you have to become independent. The idea is that you continue to produce, because if you reproduce what you have received, in a way, you end up perverting it.

What does this represent for the García Lorca Theater?
It is the history of Spain, I love its sunsets, but theirs. Modern versions sometimes make me a little nervous.

I was talking about the theater, this space where you did a solo for 2003 and you started with yourself …
Oh, listen, I did not expect it. You spoke of a memory. This presentation was something important because it brought me to many places. It was a starting point. Thanks for the memory because I have a bad memory.

Despite your bad memory, you can tell me what is left and what was lost from this Daniel that began in 2003 …
I will start with what has changed. I feel that now I am more confident in front of others, as in the past I was more insecure; Perhaps, thanks to the lived experiences, I put things in their place in a more mature way. What remains is that I am very addicted to work, and I do not cover the hours, I do it because I like it and that there are problems that deserve a lot of time. Efforts and that I cancel them completely.

What does it mean to arrive in Quito when you are only 15 years old?
There is always fear in a place you do not know, but I am very happy. The first thing that surprised me is the landscape, it is very close to the Canary Islands: mountains, geographical distribution, urban and natural. I feel at home. (DVD)
