Chewing gum is even worse than cigarette butts because they are 10 times harder and more expensive to remove. Cities have proposed initiatives against this problem and Dutch cities are an example.

Jolande Penninks is a Dutch citizen who founded Gumbudy, an organization that began installing signs in different neighborhoods of Amsterdam, Rotterdam and others. places in this country, with the representation of a map of the world for people to stick chewing gum on them. Its purpose is to clean the streets and thus place them in overcrowded places, such as shopping malls or bus and train stations.

With four other retired professionals, they created their specialized knowledge and creativity to keep the streets clean of gum and, more importantly, solve a problem detrimental to the environment.

Gumbudy is partnering with municipal authorities to collect used gum from citizens and educate the public and schools on the environmental impact of throwing these trinkets to the ground.
