A total of 464 athletes participate in the III National Disabled Sports Games which opened today in the Andean city of Cuenca ] in the south of Ecuador

At the inauguration, chaired by the Ecuadorian Secretary of Sports, Andrea Sotomayor, was presented to the delegations of the different provinces in the "Jefferson Perez Quezada" Coliseum.

Sotomayor noted in his Twitter account that the National Adapted Sports Games "improve the quality of life for many young people." In this third edition of sports for the disabled, athletes will compete in nine sports disciplines, including wheelchair basketball, rowing, goalball, boccia and futsal.

In addition, swimming, taekwondo, table tennis and athletics, said a source from the Ecuadorian Sports Secretariat. It is expected that in the sporting event new disabled talents will be identified for the upcoming Paralympic and Sordolímpico cycle tournaments.

The tournament, which began today but began on July 27, will continue until August 4, according to the same source.
