From the clutches of illegal trafficking or "trafficking" of people, 47 victims have been saved so far this year. They came from within Ecuador and from countries like Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, Bangladesh, India and Nigeria, yesterday reported the government for the World Day dedicated to fight against this crime.
With this figure in hand, officials of the Ministries of the Interior, Foreign Affairs and Inclusion and human rights defenders yesterday organized a peaceful demonstration in northern Quito to spread anti-trafficking messages.
The authorities confirmed that the majority of the survivors were victims of badual exploitation and that their rescue was the result of 11 operations in the capital and in the provinces, during which 23 people were arrested.
