"The Money family is sad to announce that Eddie died peacefully early this morning," says a Money family memo confirming Eddie's death. "It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our loving father and husband. We can not imagine our world without him. We are grateful that he will live forever thanks to his music. "
Edward Joseph Mahoney was born on March 21, 1949 in New York. He settled in the Bay Area, signed a record deal with Columbia Records and adapted his name to Eddie Money once entered the music industry. Money releases an eponymous debut album in 1977 and wins big hits with "Two Tickets To Paradise" and "Baby Hold On". The following few albums do not give singles that meet a commercial success comparable to those of his debut, 1982's "Think I'm In Love" reached 16th place on the Billboard charts.
The money was back with the release of his sixth album, 1986 Can not remember. The album became platinum and delivered its biggest hit to date, 'Take Me Home Tonight', as well as the 40 basic radio stations at the time of 'I Wanna Go Back' and 'Endless Nights'. Ronnie Spector contributed to "Take Me Home Tonight" and the song marked the return of the legendary singer Ronettes. Eddie scored another top-10 success with "Walk On Water" from 1988 Nothing to lose.
Over the last few decades, Eddie Money has been a strong box office attraction for his live broadcasts and has made numerous appearances on television, including The king of queens and his own reality program, Real money.
