Eddie Money diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer

Movie maker from the 70's and 80's become a reality TV star Eddie Money is in the battle of his life … TMZ learned that the rocker had been diagnosed with stage 4 esophagus cancer.

The singer of "Take Me Home Tonight" is the amazing revelation of his reality show, "Real Money" in season 2 … according to sources related to the show.

We were told that Eddie had the bad news last year during a regular checkup with his doctor.

The cancer started in Eddie's esophagus but, unfortunately, it spread to other parts of his body. You can see in this clip that he is determined to keep his relatives informed of the diagnosis.

We were told that Eddie had not stopped filming the family show after hearing the news – and he continued to tour almost continuously while getting treatment.

You will remember that he was forced to take a break from the road for other health problems – a minor heart valve procedure in May, and he contracted pneumonia in July. We were told that no problems were related to cancer.

According to our sources, Eddie will not hesitate to discuss his treatments while the cameras are turning for "real money".
