He also starred in Real Money, a reality TV series that debuted last year.

Eddie Money, born in 1949 in Brooklyn, New York, Edward Joseph Mahoney, released his first self-titled album in 1977. He sold over two million copies and produced hits such as Baby Hold On.

Money revealed his cancer diagnosis on August 24 in the clip of the second series of Real Money on the AXS TV cable and satellite TV network.

"I thought I was just going to get a checkup and he said I had cancer," he says in the clip.

"Am I going to live long? Who knows, it's in the hands of God. But you know what? I'll take every day possible. Every day above the surface is a good day."

The money leaves behind his wife and five children.
