Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall return to the set of “Coming to America”.

Prior to the release of the sequel to the acclaimed comedy “Coming 2 America”, the duo appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and revealed that Paramount had a request regarding the film’s casting.

Hall, 65, revealed that the studio made them choose a white actor to play the character of Maurice – who was played by Louie Anderson.

“I love Louie, but I think we had to put Louie in it,” the actor recalled. “We were forced to put [in] a white person. “

Likewise, Murphy recalled that Paramount was opposed to the 1988 film having an all-black cast.

“They were like, ‘There must be a white person in the movie,'” he said. “So who was the funniest white guy? Louie, we knew him, he was cool, so that’s how Louie got into the movie.”

Hall revealed that he was given “a list of three whites” for him to choose to play and asked who he preferred to work for.

Anderson, 67, is expected to reprise his role in “Coming 2 America”.
