The Thirty-Fourth Alexandria Film Festival will be held in Cairo from October 3 to 9, marking the tenth anniversary of the departure of Egyptian director Youssef Chahine, under the patronage of film critic Prince Abaza. The festival will include a special presentation of a film about Shaheen at the opening ceremony, a book about his life, his film career and a symposium attended by many of his students, such as Yusri Nasrallah, Khaled Youssef, Ali Daoud Abdel-Sayed
The festival also celebrates the 65th anniversary of his film "Women Without Men" and sixty years of his "Jamila Bou Harid" ("Women without Men"), "Iron Door", fifty-five years on his film "Nbader Salah Eddin" and fifty years on his Egyptian film
