Manchester United star Mohamed Salah has been crowned the African football champion of the year 2018 by the BBC, becoming the second player on the continent to win the award two years in a row, after winning the same prize for the first time in 2017.

Nigerian Jay Jay Okucha was the first player to win the 1992 trophy in two consecutive years. He was crowned in 2003 and 2004, while he shone in English with the Bolton and Nanders jersey.
