There appears to be a link between heart disease and erectile dysfunction in men, according to a study published in the journal Circulation. Researchers at the University of Baltimore in the United States conducted a study to determine whether erectile dysfunction could be an independent risk factor for heart disease in men.

Researchers studied the medical condition of men aged 60 to 78 years. Potential between heart disease and erectile dysfunction.

As part of this Lille badysis, the researchers found 115 cases of stroke, heart attack or heart failure. By highlighting erectile dysfunction and heart disorders, researchers found that more than 6% of men with erectile dysfunction suffered from heart failure, whereas this form of heart disease only affected 2.6% of men who did not suffer.

Considering complementary risk factors, such as cholesterol and obesity, the risk factor is twice as high in men with erectile dysfunction.

Our results suggest that physicians should perform more targeted tests in men with erectile dysfunction regardless of other factors heart disease risk. "
