Eight gunshot wounds on Chicago party bus amid gun violence

CHICAGO – A drive-by shooting in Chicago injured eight people who were on a party bus, one of several shootings in the city that left at least three people dead on the same day, police said.

Following the shooting on the party bus, a man was hospitalized in critical condition with a gunshot wound to his chest, police said, while the other injured men and women were in good condition. fair or serious.

Deputy Detective Chief Brendan Deenihan said detectives believed people on the bus were being targeted, but he did not provide any details.

Deenihan said the bus entered a gas station to allow people to use the restroom. Three cars stopped and people inside started shooting at the passengers of the bus who were heading towards the building, he said.

Two of the injured were employees of the bus company, including a security guard. Another person was sitting in a car at the gas station, Deenihan said.

Earlier that night, a drive-by shootout on the city’s Near West Side left two dead. The men were standing outside West Town when someone in a passing SUV shot them. No one was immediately taken into custody.

Ten other people were shot dead, one fatal, in two shootings within blocks and minutes of each other Wednesday night in North Lawndale on the West Side of Chicago, police said.

A 15-year-old boy has died after being shot in the head in a shooting, which also injured four other teenagers, including a 16-year-old who was in serious condition, police said.

The second shooting around the same time injured five people, including a 19-year-old man who was in critical condition after being shot in the chest.
