It's not just a barbecue! Dozens of restaurants, bakeries and bars are available in Kansas City. Today, there are eight semi-finalists for the James Beard 2019 Award. The Kansas City area has three separate entries for the best Midwestern chef: Michael Corvino of Corvino Supper Club & Tasting Room and Nicholas Goellner of The Antler Room of Kansas City (Missouri) and Linda Duerr from the Restaurant at 1900 in Mission. Woods, Kanal. Colby Garrelts of Bluestem Kansas City are semi-finalists for Outstanding Chef, and Calvin Davis of Freshwater is semifinalist for Rising Star Chef of the Year. If you fancy a cocktail, head to the Monarch Bar, a selection of the Outstanding Bar program. And two bullets in Kansas were chosen for their baker and pastry chef. Taylor Petrehn with 1900 Barker in Lawrence is semi-finalist for Outstanding Baker with Megan Garrelts of Rye in Leawood, semi-finalist for Outstanding Pastry Chef. The names of the finalists for the restaurants and chefs will be announced on March 27th. The James Beard 2019 Awards Gala will be held on May 6 at the Lyric Opera House in Chicago.
