EJ Manuel, who was 16th overall in the 2013 NFL selection by the Buffalo Bills, has decided to retire.

The 29-year-old quarterback was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs during the off-season to compete for a substitute position behind the NFL's most valuable player in 2018, Patrick Mahomes.

In four seasons with the Bills, Manuel has started 17 games, registering a 6-11 record in his debut. He pitched 19 touchdowns, 15 interceptions and earned a 77.5-quarter mark during his stay in Buffalo, which chose not to exercise the fifth-year option on the 2016 Manuel contract. signed with the Oakland Raiders, passing the 2017 season as a substitute. to Derek Carr. With the retirement of Manuel, this means that seven players selected in the first round of the 2013 repĂȘchage are no longer part of the league: Luke Joeckel (No. 2 overall, Jaguars), Dee Milliner (No. 9, Jets), Jarvis Jones (No. 1). 17, Steelers), Sharrif Floyd (No. 23, Vikings), Bjoern Werner (No. 24, Colts), Matt Elam (No. 32, Ravens). Manuel jumped into the first-round draft after an impressive performance at the Senior Bowl, which included the MVP title of the game. Despite impressive physical abilities – size (6 feet 5 inches, 237 pounds), arm strength and mobility – Manual did not meet the expectations of the NFL.
