El Paso sees 9 new deaths from virus; hospitalizations at the lowest level for more than a month

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) – The El Paso Department of Public Health reported 9 new coronavirus-related deaths on Tuesday, bringing the death toll to 933 in El Paso County.

The latest victims include:

  • 1 man in his sixties
  • 1 woman in her sixties
  • 2 women in their sixties
  • 1 man in his 70s
  • 2 women in their 80s
  • 2 women in their 90s

Health officials also reported 319 new cases on Tuesday.

The number of active cases rose from 37 on Monday to 37,304 on Tuesday, a far cry from Saturday’s record.

Hospitalizations fell from 905 to 875. This is the lowest level for more than a month. There are currently 300 patients in the intensive care unit.

Since the start of the pandemic, 86,752 cases have been confirmed in El Paso, with 47,910 cases of recovery reported. Doctors warn that some recovered people may still experience long-term health problems from the infection.
