The Duchess of Sussex is generating negative reactions and calls for stripping her of her title for ‘meddling’ in the US elections by implicating her support for Democratic candidate Joe Biden, which is strictly prohibited by the British royal family.
“We all know what is at stake this year”, Meghan Markle said Thursday at an online event hosted by the United State of Women gender equity group. “I know that. I think you all certainly know it, and if you are here for this fun event with us, you are just as engaged and motivated to see the change we all need and deserve.
Markle did not explicitly endorse a candidate, but in the midst of her voter registration initiative with former First Lady Michelle Obama and speaking at an event with Obama’s Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett, her comments made it clear where it was. Campaign for “The change we all need and deserve” suggests the opposite to vote for the outgoing president, President Donald Trump. Twitter users certainly took his words that way.
“Raises your blood pressure, doesn’t it?” a Twitter user said. “She’s back in her element, going against royal rules, for politics. It’s like… ‘What are you going to do about this?’ while holding a royal title. Another said: “Members of the royal household stay away from politics, as they always have. You have proven to be nothing but an embarrassment to our sovereign.

Markle has made critical comments about Trump in the past, as he calls him “Misogynist”, but that was before he got married to the royal family in 2018. Markle and Prince Harry announced they would “move back” from their duties as senior members of the Royal Family and are striving to become financially independent earlier this year.
They were allowed to continue using their titles of Duke and Duchess of Sussex, but they are no longer referred to as Her Royal Highness and Her Royal Highness. Markle’s political commentary is considered by some to be a drop in the bucket.
The Queen must strip the Sussexes of their titles. They cannot remain royals and talk about foreign elections in such a blatantly partisan way. https://t.co/6uZ3FTbjHW

“The Queen must strip the Sussexes of their titles”, British TV host Piers Morgan said on Twitter Friday. “They can’t remain royals and talk about foreign elections in such a blatantly partisan way.” Another internet user said: “This woman left unchecked will destroy what remains of the perception of our Queen and her family. It must be stripped of any title binding it to the royal family. She’s poisonous.
Others mocked Markle for fleeing the UK media spotlight, before starting to gain attention again. “Oh look: it’s Little Miss I Want Privacy again,” one user tweeted. Another said: “I used to think of Fergie as the most embarrassing member of the royal family. I take everything back, “ referring to Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York and ex-wife of Prince Andrew.
