Remember “Crab walk” on the new Hummer EV? Of course you do. Well, it looks like GM is giving its upcoming electric Silverado a similar feature as well. Of course you will remember that it is not GM’s first attempt to add fourwheel-steering ability to its trucks.
It doesn’t exactly look like a “crab walk,” in the video Chevy posted today, but those rear wheels definitely steer. I could see this was useful in urban settings, but also off-road settings. Chevrolet says four-wheel steering will be optional in the electric Silverado; 24-inch wheels are also optional.

Chevrolet hasn’t said when the electric Silverado will start shipping, although I wouldn’t expect that until late next year, and probably not until 2023. By then, you can also expect drops and dChevy’s abs on all the cool new features it puts in the electric Silverado, which will rival the Tesla Cybertruck (perhaps), Ford F-150 Lightning, and possibly an electric Ram 1500 as well. There’s also the Lordstown Endurance (haha) and the Rivian R1T, with the R1T much safer than Endurance, given all the money behind Rivian and all recent unrest in Lordstown.
Among these, the Recently delayed cybertruck still holds probably the most intrigue, given that this is a pretty radical departure in terms of design, compared to the others. And while I still think the Cybertruck is primarily aimed at wealthy Californians with peanut-sized brains, that might not be the case either, which would be the biggest surprise. The electric Silverado and F-150 Lightning, on the other hand, are aimed at more practical buyers like fleets, as well as Chevrolet and Ford fans who think they’re cool. The Rivian is probably the hipster choice here, along with the Bollinger B2, while I have no idea who the Endurance is for: Trump fans who care about the environment? Does this person still exist? Either way, get ready for a lot of electric trucks.
