Electronic Arts today revealed that it is opening a new development studio called Full Circle to build the next game in the Skate series. Full Circle joins EA Sports and Respawn Entertainment as the publisher’s third developer in Vancouver.

Former Xbox Live boss Daniel McCulloch oversees the team as general manager.

“Fans wanted Skate to come back to existence, and we want them to feel involved in the development process to the game’s launch and beyond,” said McCulloch. “We want them to feel like they are part of Full Circle.”

Full Circle is also looking to attract new talent to work on Skateboard.

“We want to have fun and create great games that people want to play with their friends. And we’re looking for more developers to help us create compelling worlds for players to explore. “

Familiar faces return for # Skate4

While McCulloch steps in to execute the development, EA has also brought back the creative tracks from Skateboarding to shape the next game. Deran Chung and Cuz Parry are back in their roles as key designers.

“We are delighted to be back to work on Skate,” Chung and Parry said in a statement. “Some would say the circle has come full circle.”

Oh I understand!

This continues EA’s investment in the talented Vancouver development scene. The city is a huge tech hub, and it’s still much more affordable than comparable American cities like San Francisco or Los Angeles. In addition, Canada has produced powerful names in skateboarding like Pierre-Luc Gagnon and Sluggo Boyce. Now that energy can come to skate video games.
