Eli Manning doesn’t claim to brag about disturbing Tom Brady

He never talks about it. But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t get into the conversation.

Eli Manning is the only living quarterback to have that on Tom Brady – the seemingly ageless wonder heading for his 10th Super Bowl, his first with the Buccaneers. Brady is 6-3 in his previous Super Bowl appearances, all with the Patriots, and the first two losses came at the hands of Manning and the Giants.

With so many (deserved) talks this week over Brady, 43, as being the best of all time, Manning will forever be 2-0 against him on the biggest stage.

Not bad.

“It’s one of those things, it’s not something that I say or think about a lot,” Manning told The Post on Tuesday. “I’ve been with Tom a few times, and I never mentioned a Super Bowl or our games against them. He actually talks about it. It still bothers him a bit, especially that of ’07 where they had the chance to become the greatest team of all time.

“But I don’t have the right to brag to Tom. It’s his 10th Super Bowl and I’m so impressed with his entire career. ”

Manning was the Super Bowls MVP after the 2007 and 2011 seasons, returning first to Glendale, Ariz. And then to Indianapolis in the fourth quarter to upset Brady and the Patriots. The only other quarterback to beat Brady in a Super Bowl is Nick Foles, three years ago. Manning remains alone as Brady’s killer on two occasions.

“I don’t think I’m rooted for him or against him for that reason,” Manning said. “I always watch the game and I’m generally in favor of quarterbacks in certain situations, especially in the fourth quarter – whoever has the ball, I encourage the quarterback and encourage attack to make plays. ”

In Tampa on February 7, Brady and the Buccaneers face Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. Brady, in a place unknown to him, is the underdog.

“It’s really impressive what Tom was able to do,” said Manning, who is competing in Frank’s RedHot Big Pour Challenge to raise $ 100,000 for Tackle Kids Cancer. “Just the fact, change teams after 20 years, with a team where you’ve been so successful and go to a new team, a new city, a new state during a pandemic, where you have a shortened offseason and different rules and sort of get the same results. Coming back to a Super Bowl, at 43, yeah, that’s so awesome. It was hard to think this was going to be possible. He obviously has a special demeanor and a special ability to get guys to rally around him. ”

Manning doesn’t make any predictions, but he did offer it, when it comes to the 2021 Super Bowl winner: whichever team and quarterback got the ball last.

Usually, says Manning, that’s how it works with these guys.

He should know.
