Maui Health has extended eligibility for the COVID-19 booster vaccine to anyone approved by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the health care provider announced Thursday afternoon.
The Maui Memorial Medical Center clinic is now providing booster doses of the Pfizer vaccine to all healthcare professionals and other eligible frontline workers, including teachers and hotel employees, including profession or workplace are at increased risk of infection or transmission of COVID-19, according to a press release.
Administration of the booster dose is in conjunction with continued hospital administration of the first, second and third dose to all eligible persons.
Eligible individuals include those who have already received two doses of Pfizer vaccine, the last dose received at least six months ago, and who meet one of the following criteria:
• 65 years of age or over.
• Residents in retirement homes or assisted living facilities.
• Welcoming residents of foster homes and community care homes.
• 18 to 64 years old with underlying medical conditions including cancer, diabetes, asthma, HIV infection, heart disease and obesity.
• 18 to 64 years of age with an increased risk of exposure and transmission to COVID-19 due to the work or institutional setting, including, but not limited to, healthcare, correctional staff and inmates , and people in homeless shelters.
The Maui Health COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic, located in the main lobby of the Maui Memorial, is open 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Qualified persons can make an appointment in the vaccine administration management system at vams.cdc.gov if they prefer, but all eligible persons, including those receiving the expanded booster dose, can bypass an appointment and go for their vaccine during regular clinic hours.
A valid ID is required for vaccination and participants must bring their vaccination card. To speed up the appointment process, download and complete the Insurance Information Form before arriving and bring a copy of your ID and insurance card. Insurance is not required to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Additional instructions, forms and the most recent information are available at maui health.org/covidvaccine.
