Console gamers are going to have to wait to get their hands on it Odyssey while Frontier Developments fixes the PC version of the game. Odyssey The update was a mammoth undertaking, tens of thousands of new places to visit, and the ability to explore worlds on foot. It was originally scheduled to arrive on consoles in the fall of 2021. There is no new release date yet.
David Braben, CEO and founder of Frontier, explained the studio’s decision in a detailed post on the game’s official forums. He wrote,
Ultimately, we think it’s fair to focus our efforts on the base Elite Dangerous Odyssey experience for the platforms we’ve published on, before we open up to more. We know that the work we are doing to improve the experience for Elite Dangerous Odyssey players on PC will benefit other platforms in the future, but the dates and details of console platforms will change. We don’t want to rush to confirm any dates or changes this has on our console version, as we need to stay fully focused on the core Elite experience. It’s only when we feel the foundation for the PC version is solid that we can redefine our roadmap for the console.
The team intends to focus on updates to the game that fix bugs and improve performance, as well as adding additional features to the game. “Behind every bug fix, design decision and release of in the community, there is one person who really cares about giving our players the best possible experience, ”said Braben.
