Friday fireworks are in store for the Crimson Tide as a four-star offensive tackle Tyler booker, Global Perspective # 42 in the country, engaged in Alabama over Florida, Georgia and a long list of others. Nick saban and company clinch their eleventh class of 2022 signing, and their first offensive line signing one year away from signing arguably the best offensive line class ever.
“Their commitment to greatness from top to bottom,” Booker said of Alabama. “From training staff to nutritionist and coaching staff, everyone is committed to excellence, everyone is committed to greatness.”
A product of the IMG Academy via New Haven, Connecticut, Booker was in Tuscaloosa in late June, a visit that ultimately propelled the Crimson Tide to No.1 on its list.
“It was great being on campus for my own recruiting,” Booker said. “It’s something I’ve always worked for. It’s something that proves to me that all of my hard work is now starting to pay off. I went to camps when I was younger and saw older children when they visited, and I always wanted to be in that position. Now that I’m in this position, it shows that you can go anywhere with hard work and dedication and believing in your dreams.
Booker is very close to Alabama freshman JC Latham, someone he says he considers a big brother, since their time together at IMG Academy. Another person who helped UA land the big lineman is the new offensive line coach Doug Brown.
“I’ve talked to Coach Marrone a lot,” Booker said. “We are freezing very well. I really like Coach Marrone. He’s another guy from the Northeast like me. We both know what it’s like to come from football pitches, I would say not strong, and to always be the best in our respective fields. So I have the impression that we are connecting there. And it’s just different being from the Northeast, you have a different type of vibe, you have a different type of hunger, because you know that not everyone has the same opportunities that you have. So those two things and just everything we’re talking about, he just wants to help me choose the best school for me. And at the same time, try to show me why Alabama is the best school for me. But above all make sure that I am making the right decision for myself. I appreciate him for keeping it real with me.
Booker is the # 11 Commitment for the Tide in the Class of 2022, propelling UA to the # 6 spot in the 247Sports Composite Team Recruiting Rankings.
Here is 247Sports’ assessment of the 6-foot-5, 325-pounder, via Andrew Ivins;
“A tall man who is 6 feet 5 inches tall. Carries 325 pounds better than most. The voice and leader of the IMG Academy. He initially saw himself as a defensive lineman before making the full-time transition to the offensive side of the ball. The type of blocker who likes to blow the whistle. Has come a long way in the past year and is more than capable of winning at the point of attack with a punch at the right time. Holds on to his target and is able to quickly find some leverage before dismissing future tacklers. Agile enough to get out of the tackle zone and open up race tracks, at least at the high school level. Needs to become more consistent in passing, but has shown he can protect the corner with a relatively smooth kick. I spent the junior season mainly working on the right tackle. Has extra arm length, but could end up getting shots at one of the two guard points in college if needed. Well respected by almost everyone in Bradenton and received rave reviews from the force staff at the National Central. Will likely need a bit of seasoning, but has the characteristics and mindset to emerge as a multi-year starter for a Top 25 program. Has a chance to make the NFL like his uncle, Ulish Booker. “
