After weeks of Armie Hammer cannibalizing the celebrity news cycle, his ex-wife, Elizabeth Chambers, has finally spoken out against the allegations of sexual assault and emotional abuse against Hammer. On February 1, Chambers posted a photo of a sunset over the ocean, writing in her caption how she was “shocked, heartbroken and devastated” by the stories of Hammer’s accusers. She continued, “I didn’t know how much I didn’t know,” suggesting she was unaware of Hammer’s alleged actions against other women. “I support any victim of assault or abuse and I urge anyone who has experienced this pain to seek the help they need to heal,” she added, and explained that she would not do. no further comment, but that she would continue to focus her energy on the ex-couple’s two children.
Technically, Chambers first spoke out on the scandal on January 29, commenting, “No. Words. ”On an Instagram post about Hammer’s Call me by your name Luca Guadagnino and Timothée Chalamet’s next film about cannibalism. Amid the recent controversy, Hammer quit projects including The offer, a mini-series on the making of The Godfather, and Jennifer Lopez’s film Shotgun wedding. Chambers’ full statement is below:
For weeks, I have been trying to deal with everything that has happened. I am shocked, heartbroken and devastated. Heartbroken aside, I am listening and will continue to listen and educate myself on these sensitive issues. I didn’t know how much I didn’t know.
I stand with any victim of assault or abuse and urge anyone who has been through this pain to seek the help they need to heal.
For the moment, I will not comment further on this question.
My only focus and focus will continue to be on our children, on my work and on healing during this extremely difficult time.
