Elizabeth Olsen praises Scarlett Johansson amid Disney lawsuit – the Hollywood Reporter

Elizabeth Olsen has the back of her compatriot Avenger. The actress has lent her support to her former co-star Scarlett Johansson, who is currently suing Disney.

The WandaVision the star spoke with Vanity Fair on the effects of COVID-19 on theatrical releases in a joint interview with Jason Sudeikis released on Friday. Commenting on Johansson’s recent trial, Olsen said, “I think she’s so tough and literally when I read I was like, ‘Good for you Scarlett.'”

After the release of Marvel Black WidowJohansson sued the studio’s parent company, claiming its contract was broken when the film was made available on Disney + ‘s Premium Access level on the same day it hit theaters. The actress earns bonuses when Black Widow hit some box office performance numbers, and in the lawsuit Johansson’s team claim that Disney sacrificed the film’s box office potential to grow its streaming service.

Sudeikis described Johansson’s legal decision as “properly bad and in line with the mark”.

Olsen added that she was concerned about the release of movies on streaming platforms, as the change negatively affects low budget movies. “I would love to see art films and arthouse theaters,” she said. “And so I’m worried about it, and people have to keep these theaters alive. And I don’t know how it works financially for these theaters. “

“But I think it will be like before when the studios had theaters,” she theorized.

So far, Olsen and guardians of the galaxy‘s Dave Bautista are the only two Marvel stars to respond to the lawsuit. Bautista has not publicly taken sides. He tweeted, “I told them they should have made a #Drax movie but noooooo!”

Johansson, Bautista and Olsen all appeared together in Avengers: Endgame.
