Hours after making her runway debut for Proenza Schouler at New York Fashion Week, new IMG model Ella Emhoff landed her first magazine cover.
The 21-year-old daughter-in-law of Vice President Kamala Harris and daughter of Doug Emhoff presents the Spring 2021 issue of the glossy art and fashion of Dust, wearing a pastel patchwork knit jacket of her own design.
While filming, the Parsons coed and so-called “Bushwick’s first daughter” also sported duds from designers from brands such as Balenciaga, Prada and Miu Miu, while posing in a Brooklyn studio where she once worked.
In the accompanying interview, which was conducted by artist Marina Abramovic on Zoom, Emhoff opened up about his look since the inauguration of Joe Biden, an ornate Miu Miu coat worn over a ruffled Batsheva dress.
“The choice was honestly very impulsive. Personally, I like the cross between the old and the new. I love doily-type collars, obviously I love knits, I love tartans, I love classic embroidery, and I wanted to make sure I stayed true to myself and kept it alive, ”a- she explained.
The aspiring fashion designer, whose latest knitwear collection sold out within hours on Thursday, also spoke of her love for the craft. “It’s almost a selfish act; a cathartic experience; my therapy, ”she said of knitting.
