Internet personality Trisha Paytas opened up about her 2010 appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” in the last episode of her podcast “Frenemies,” which she hosts with H3H3’s Ethan Klein, calling controversial host Ellen DeGeneres “a b —- “and saying that she was not allowed to touch her.
Paytas appeared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” in 2010, when she was 22, to show off her browsing skills as part of an Audience Talent Segment. In the clip, Paytas gushed at DeGeneres, reaching out to touch it and then pulling his hand back, saying she shouldn’t touch the host before launching into a flash recitation of what appears to be the book of DeGeneres “My Point … And I have one.”
Paytas said that in pre-Instagram times she wanted to be famous and made her way onto the show via a YouTube post. “My thought was, if I keep all of these shows, someone will find out about me,” she said on the podcast. “I thought Ellen was going to find me and that I was going to be like, one of her co-hosts. It was my thought process.
Her experience on the set, however, did not live up to her expectations, she said.
“When it all started to come out [about Ellen], I was like, it made sense because she was so horrible. Literally did not speak. They’re telling you … ‘don’t look her in the eye, don’t touch her,’ “Paytas said, referring to statements from celebrities and ordinary people in 2020 who portrayed Ellen as mean or cold.
Others have made similar statements in the past about their collaboration with DeGeneres. Australian radio host Neil Breen said during a segment of his radio show, “4BC Breakfast,” that his team were given specific instructions to work with DeGeneres while he was working as a producer on the Australian program “Today”. Breen alleged that his team were told not to talk or watch DeGeneres.

Page Six reported in August 2020 that, according to anonymous sources, DeGeneres was describing the alleged rule that people shouldn’t look her in the eye as “crazy,” saying she didn’t know where it started and asking the staff to “watch [her] In the eye. “
DeGeneres and its show came under fire in the summer of 2020, with BuzzFeed News reporting that a current employee and ten former employees alleged that the show had a “toxic” work environment in which they were prone to racism and bullying. A second BuzzFeed News report contained allegations by dozens of former employees that the show’s executive producers had engaged in sexual misconduct.

DeGeneres addressed the controversy in the opening monologue for her show’s 18th season, saying she “takes responsibility for what happens on my show.”
A representative for DeGeneres declined to comment. Paytas did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment.
