Elon Musk named the most inspiring leader in technology

Elon Musk has been ranked among the most inspiring figures in technology, according to a new survey of industry professionals.

For its annual Brand Health Report, Hired has recruited more than 3,600 technology professionals in the United States, the United Kingdom, France and Canada via its online platform. The survey was conducted between June and July of this year.

Famous for having disrupted the auto sector with all-electric cars, billionaire Musk is also renowned for his futuristic ambitions: build a city on Mars, create a 700 km / h transport network and develop flying cars .

This 48-year-old entrepreneur is the CEO of automotive manufacturer Tesla, as well as the co-founder and CEO of the space exploration company SpaceX. Musk is also General Manager of the Neuralink Technology Companies and The Boring Company.

Its net worth is currently rising to more than $ 20 billion, according to Forbes.

Musk's ranking as an inspiring leader comes despite – or perhaps even because of – his reputation for erratic behavior. By publicly smoking grass, organizing bizarre profit calls, recording an automated tribute to the Harambe gorilla and helping a sheep's photo become viral, Musk's unpredictable actions projected its companies in the spotlight, but they often scared investors. Earlier this year, Musk settled a legal dispute with the US Securities and Exchange Commission over its use of Twitter to discuss Tesla's finances.

Respondents in the Hired poll ranked SpaceX as the second most popular employer among private companies in the world, while Tesla was named the tenth most attractive employer among state-owned companies.

Airbnb was the private company for which most technology professionals wanted to work. Hulu, Reddit and Kickstarter completed the top five.

Meanwhile, Google, Netflix, Apple, LinkedIn and Microsoft were the five public companies for which most technology workers said they wanted to work.
