Musk also said in its e-mail that Tesla was about to receive about 110,000 orders this quarter and indicated that delivery logistics was the company's top priority for the rest of the month.

"The challenge is to make sure we have the right car variants in the right places and to mobilize as many resources as possible from our company to help us make the end-of-quarter deliveries," he said. "This is the top priority for the last five days of the quarter."

Tesla did not immediately respond to Business Insider's request for comment.

In the second quarter of this year, Tesla delivered approximately 95,200 vehicles, which broke the company's record in the fourth quarter of last year.
