Elon Musk shows off fully stacked SpaceX spacecraft and super heavy rocket

With three words, “Fully stacked vesselSpaceX founder Elon Musk sees his vision for the future come true. On Friday, Musk shared photos of a prototype Starship spacecraft and a Super Heavy rocket together on a launch pad with the ending commercial broken down and sharp end.

Musk had already posted Super Heavy rocket views – a 29-motor monster intended to escort Starship on a test flight into orbit for the first time – on the pad at SpaceX’s development center in Boca Chica, Texas.

Musk’s Photo Collection shows the Starship spacecraft lifted on top of the Super Heavy rocket and put into place. The pair reach nearly 400 feet (122 meters) in height.

When asked what it was like to see the space combo fully stacked, Musk responded on Twitter with “The dream becomes reality.” The founder of SpaceX estimated it might take two weeks to work on a to-do list, including installing more heat shield tiles on Starship.

SpaceX conducted a series of short test flights in Texas with prototype spacecraft, some of which survived the process and others exploded. The orbital spacecraft will be the most ambitious test yet and the first with the massive Super Heavy rocket needed to propel it into space.

The launch date for the test flight has not yet been set and will depend on many factors including completion of work on Starship and Super Heavy and obtaining Federal Aviation Administration approval. Sending Starship into orbit will be a big step towards Musk’s even bigger dreams of transporting humans to the moon and to Mars.
