Dr Michael Pillsbury responds to Elon Musk’s comments on the strength of China’s economy and climate plans.
SpaceX CEO Elon Musk is giving back to Cameron County, Texas, home to the launch site for aerospace company Boca Chica, and nearby Brownsville.
Musk announced on Twitter that he would give $ 20 million to county schools and an additional $ 10 million to Brownsville for “downtown revitalization.” He noted that more details would be revealed next week.

The announcement comes after Musk recently expressed interest in integrating the village of Boca Chica into a town called “Starbase.”
Under Texas law, the incorporation process is administered by the Cameron County Commissioners Court. Cameron County Judge Eddie Trevino Jr. said in a March 2 statement that the court had been “briefed on SpaceX’s efforts.”
“If SpaceX and Elon Musk wish to continue down this path, they must comply with all state incorporation statutes,” Trevino added. “Cameron County will process all appropriate petitions in accordance with applicable law.”
Musk encouraged his supporters in a separate tweet Tuesday to “please consider moving to Starbase or the Brownsville / South Padre Texas area and encourage your friends to do so!”
“SpaceX’s recruitment needs for engineers, technicians, builders and essential support personnel of all kinds are increasing rapidly,” he added. “Starbase will grow by several thousand people over the next two years.”
The company revealed in a job posting earlier this month that it is also in the process of opening a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Austin, Texas. According to the publication, the candidate will help produce equipment for Starlink, SpaceX’s global high-speed internet service comprised of a constellation of satellites, and must agree that up to 25% travel to SpaceX headquarters in the region of.
