The storms that followed brought torrential rains to parts of southeastern Texas and southern Louisiana during the night. Precipitation of 2 to 3 inches caused severe flash floods in parts of the region, including the Houston subway.
Total precipitation in this region is estimated at 6 inches, although official totals are not yet known. The heavy rains caused many water supplies in Houston on Thursday night and blocked cars on the roads.
