Emma Corrin notched her first major awards from the get-go, winning the Drama Actress Statue at the 78th Annual Golden Globe Awards for her portrayal of Princess Diana in Netflix’s “The Crown.”
Corrin joined Season 4 of the period Royal Family streaming play to capture Diana in her early teens, meeting and wooing Prince Charles (Josh O’Connor), through her transition to the People’s Princess and their rocky marriage.
Corrin was radiant when she accepted the award, saying, “Thank you, thank you very much. Many thanks to the HFPA for this incredible honor. What!”
Among those on Corrin’s thank you list was her co-star O’Connor, whom she called “Prince Charming.”
“Thanks to my prince charming, Josh [O’Connor]I couldn’t have done this without you, ”Corrin said. “Thank you for making every day by my side a total joy.”
O’Connor is also nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Television Drama Series for his performance in “The Crown.”
Corrin also paid tribute to Diana during her acceptance speech, detailing the impact she has had on her life and career.
“And most importantly, thank you very much to Diana,” Corrin said. “You have taught me compassion and empathy beyond any extent I could imagine. On behalf of all those who so fondly and passionately remember you in our hearts, thank you.
Corrin was nominated alongside her co-star “The Crown” (and category winner) Olivia Colman, as well as “Killing Eve” Jodie Comer, “Ozark” Laura Linney and “Ratched” Sarah Paulson.
