Emma Roberts introduces newborn son to American writer Joan Didion: ‘Rhodes meets Joan’

Emma Roberts doesn’t waste precious time introducing her baby boy to one of America’s famous writers.

On Monday, the self-proclaimed avid reader gave 15.6 million Instagram fans and followers yet another pic to her month-old son Rhodes, whom she shares with partner and actor Garrett Hedlund.

And for his second introduction to the virtual world, Roberts had snuggled it up next to a copy of the latest book by Joan Didion, who is best known over the past 15 years for her classic book on grief and mourning – The Year of Magical Thinking (2005).

Dressed in trendy pajamas, Roberts appeared to be lying in bed with Rhodes relaxed on her chest, wearing cute little pajamas and a beanie.

The actress has a look of happy contentment on her face as she clings to Didion’s new book – Let me tell you what I mean – a new collection of old essays.

“ Rhodes meets Joan, ” the actress wrote in the caption, in a nod of the head with the utmost respect to the writer, with the address of @belletrist, which is a recommendation and review site for books co-founded by Roberts.

Didion’s – South and West: From a Notebook – served as the inaugural choice for Belletrist.

In an interview with Vogue, Roberts revealed that she was first introduced to the author when a friend read it – Play It As It Lays. She said she felt an immediate link with his writing and communication style.

“I started to read it and couldn’t stop. I finished it in a day and was so blown away by its writing and that feeling of discovering a voice speaking to you, ” screen legend Julia Roberts’ niece said.

“I just devoured everything she wrote. I can read his news a hundred times.

The first-time mother also shared the different books she reads on Instagram, which has received a positive and engaging response.

“You don’t have to be the best reader or read the most – you just need that sense of curiosity and wanting to be introduced to new stories that you might not have read otherwise” Roberts explained.

“It’s a joy in my life when I give people books by Joan Didion because I’m excited for them.

Roberts and Hedlund have been an object since March 2019 and welcomed their first child on December 27, 2020.
