The director of "The Land", Damien Chazelle, returns to Hollywood for his next feature film, "Babylon", and Emma Stone is in the early stages.
Sources say Chazelle has met a handful of contenders over the last two weeks and both Paramount and Lionsgate are trying to get the job done. While Chazelle previously worked with Lionsgate for "La La Land," an insider added that Paramount had a slight advantage in acquiring it, given the scope of the film and the budget it would have needed. "Babylon" is a period piece set in Hollywood in the 1920s. Chazelle is looking for a prestigious ensemble to make this film his biggest production to date.
The details of the plot are vague, but according to some sources, the film will run during the transition from silent movies to talkies and will feature a mix of real and fictional characters, similar to Quentin Tarantino's upcoming film, "Once Upon A Time in Hollywood ". the exact budget remains to be determined, sources said that "Babylon" will mark that Chazelle will assemble a set of stars to share the screen with Stone.
