Emma Thompson says she will not work with John Lasseter, former Pixar executive, withdraws from film

Actress Emma Thompson explained in a letter why she had refused to work with Pixar's former executive, John Lasseter, and had retired from the animated film "Luck".

Thompson left the project last month shortly after David Ellison, CEO of Skydance, hired Lasseter, co-founder of Pixar and former animation chief of Walt Disney Co. Last year, Lasseter was forced to leave Disney after recognizing "missteps" in her behavior towards employees.

Thompson, 59, wrote in her letter that she found it difficult to get away from the project, headed by Alessandro Carloni, but she felt that it was the right choice.

She also stated that she found "strange" that Skydance engages Lasseter.

"It's very odd to me to think that you and your company are planning to hire some type of reprehensible behavior from Mr. Lasseter, given the current climate in which people with the power you own can Reasonably expect them to be up to the job, "she wrote.

The star of "Love Actually" asked why women in Skydance should trust a person who "makes women in his company feel underrated and neglected for decades."

"We talked a lot about giving John Lasseter a" second chance, "she wrote. "But he's probably paid millions of dollars to get that second chance. How much money are Skydance employees paid to give him that second chance? "

Thompson wrote that "no woman has received Pixar's or Disney's settlement after being harassed by John Lasseter".
