DETROIT – Just as they appeared to be in good health, the New York Yankees were more affected by injuries.
The designated hitter, Edwin Encarnacion, and star receiver, Gary Sanchez, were both injured when sweeping a double program against the Detroit Tigers on Thursday, and returned to New York for further testing.
Pitcher J.A. Happ, who started the first game of the doubles program, was also sent for testing.
